Queer & Disabled
Ages 18+. Newly revamped for 2026!
Service Description
Queer & Disabled is a monthly virtual peer-support and community-building program designed to create an affirming, accessible, and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ disabled people to connect, learn, share experiences, and support one another. This program recognizes that disability and queerness are not separate identities but often deeply interconnected, influencing how individuals move through the world, access community, and experience belonging. This space aims to: • Strengthen community connection among 2SLGBTQIA+ disabled people who may experience isolation or barriers to in-person community spaces. • Offer peer-based support, shared wisdom, and collective care rooted in lived experience. • Create safer, accessible spaces that honour diverse communication, participation, and sensory needs. • Celebrate disabled and queer joy, resilience, and culture, challenging stigma and affirming identity. • Provide space for reflection, skill-sharing, and empowerment, without placing pressure on participants to educate others or perform emotional labour. This program is not therapy or clinical counselling. Facilitators guide discussions, support respectful interaction, and help maintain a community-centred space where participants can show up as they are. Meeting every first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm EST.
