Our Commitment
The Prism Community Hub is a welcoming, affirming, and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, allies, families, and partners. We foster safety, dignity, respect, learning, and belonging. All community members, visitors, staff, and volunteers are expected to uphold this Code of Conduct to ensure the Hub remains a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
1. Respect & Inclusion
· Treat all people with dignity, kindness, and respect.
· Use individuals’ correct names and pronouns. If unsure—ask respectfully.
· Discrimination, harassment, hate, bullying, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated.
· Respect all lived experiences, identities, cultures, abilities, and beliefs.
· Allow space for all voices—avoid dominating discussions.
2. Safer Space Expectations
· This is a judgment-free space. Be mindful of language, tone, and assumptions.
· Be aware of personal biases and work to challenge them.
· Slurs, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour are strictly prohibited.
· Physical aggression, unwanted physical contact, or sexual harassment will result in immediate removal.
3. Confidentiality & Privacy
· What is shared in the Hub stays in the Hub—respect everyone’s confidentiality.
· Do not share someone’s identity or personal story without their explicit consent (“outing” is prohibited).
· Photos, recordings, or tagging others on social media require clear permission.
4. Healthy Communication
· Communicate with empathy, curiosity, and care.
· Seek to resolve conflicts respectfully; ask staff for support if needed.
· Assume good intent, but acknowledge impact—own mistakes and learn from them.
5. Accessibility, Safety & Boundaries
· Respect physical, sensory, and accessibility needs of others.
· Ask before offering advice, physical assistance, or touch.
· Use scent-free products whenever possible to support accessibility.
· Keep pathways clear and use Hub equipment safely and as intended.
6. Substance Use & Space Rules
· The Prism Community Hub is a substance-free environment unless otherwise noted for specific events.
· Smoking, vaping, or cannabis use must occur only in designated outdoor areas.
· Illegal substances and drug dealing are not permitted anywhere on Hub property.
7. Use of Space & Shared Resources
· Treat the Hub, its materials, and equipment with care.
· Clean up after yourself and respect shared spaces.
· Follow staff/volunteer guidance regarding room usage, bookings, and equipment.
· Service animals are welcome. Pets may be permitted depending on the program—ask first.
8. Youth & Vulnerable Persons Safety
· Adults must maintain appropriate boundaries with youth and vulnerable individuals.
· Any safety concerns, disclosures, or incidents must be reported to staff immediately.
· Zero tolerance for grooming, exploitation, or abuse.
9. Accountability & Consequences
Violations of this Code of Conduct will be addressed promptly and fairly.
Staff/volunteers may:
· Issue a verbal reminder or warning
· Ask someone to leave for the day
· Implement a temporary or permanent ban if necessary
· Serious violations may result in immediate removal and/or police involvement where required by law.
10. Commitment to Growth & Community Care
We acknowledge that harm can happen, even in safe spaces. We commit to learning, healing, and restorative approaches where possible.

If you feel unsafe or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please speak with a staff member or volunteer. You will be listened to, supported, and treated with care.
